R00T ACCESS

Going behind the scenes in true (internet) crime

PUTTING THE DARK SIDE OF ONLINE SECURITY IN THE RIGHT LIGHT

To highlight the critical importance of Information Security, OpenDNS (now a part of Cisco) created a podcast called R00T ACCESS, which reveals the behind-the-scenes stories of famous hacks and security breaches, and how the experts deal with them. So when they came to us for a brand, website, and marketing materials, we got down to business.

BANISH THE BLAH

A podcast about online security’s seamy underbelly is the prime opportunity for a bold, gritty brand that stands out in the B2B landscape.

LET’S GET GRITTY WITH IT

To bring R00T ACCESS to life, we created a look, logo, and font treatment that speaks to Information Security while adding a dark, underground feel. We then extended that look, creating a R00T ACCESS microsite to host the podcast, including a publishing pipeline on the back end that disseminates episodes to a variety of outlets.

LAUNCH SITE

Leave the comfort zone.

We can often get in a groove in B2B marketing – emails, banners, lead gen – but when brands break out of the traditional tactics and offer up something fresh and surprising to their audiences, it can pay off big.

Bring in the experts.

Branding, marketing, websites – that’s our expertise. Creating a successful podcast experience? A little less so. That’s why we made sure to keep experts from inside our agency and at OpenDNS involved from beginning to end.

Have some fun.

When you’re doing something unique, like highlighting true crime in internet security, it’s the perfect opportunity to steer away from traditional, clean B2B branding and do something completely unexpected.
